30 Days of IRIS #1 - Early Bird Gets the Worm

January 15th 2018

We have heard countlessly how sleeping and waking up early can benefit our health. But with the city’s fast-paced lifestyle, it can be difficult for some people to sleep early. Here are some tips that can help you sleep earlier and better.

1. One Step at a Time
Don’t rush it. Try waking up 15 minutes earlier for the first week, 20 minutes in the following week and so on until you reach your ideal sleep time.

2. Stick to it
Develop a habit to start going to bed at a set time every night, even if you don’t fall asleep right away.

3. Avoid Bright Lights
Stay away from electronic devices, e.g. your cell phone and TV, that produce light to avoid stimulation to the brain. Read a book or write a diary instead of watching Netflix.

4. Exercise Before Sleep
Tire yourself out so you can jump into bed right away after doing exercise.
