30 Days of IRIS #26 - How To Stay Healthy At Home
February 9th 2018
You don't need to actually jet away to get away from it all and enjoy a little R & R every day. While wellness retreats are a great way to reset and relax, it's also important to do something small every day that makes you feel fitter, healthier and happier
The team at CompareRetreats.com has teamed up with IRIS to share some tips that the best health and fitness retreats incorporate into their most popular programmes for you to try at home.
1 - Get eight hours of sleep a night: Leave electronic devices outside of your bedroom, buy some black out curtains, and try to avoid your phone an hour before bedtime for some serious shut eye.
2 - Meditate when you wake up: Try a guided-meditation app if you're finding it difficult to take up this healthy habit which will leave you feeling calm and collected.Think of it as giving your brain a little holiday.
3 - Get outside and move: Exercising outdoors is a key component of many top fitness retreats. Many of us are lacking in Vitamin D3 so go soak up some sunshine while getting a kick of endorphins.
4 - Fill up on fruit and vegetables: Try filling your plate with fresh fruit and vegetables before eating processed food. By only eating natural food and drinking water you're giving your body a much needed break from having to break down unnatural ingredients and chemicals found in packaged food.
5 - Try writing a page a day: Whether you write down three things you're grateful for or simply jot down your thoughts and musings, journalling is a great way to start and end your day. Many retreats focus on writing down goals and breaking them down into bite-sized components that make them easier to digest.
